No one and would shine on the hill for their ‘proficiency’ in using insults, verbal abuses and allsorts of character assassinations! It pains you to see, people who should have been treated with respect and empathy being verbally abused only for just being on the ‘other side.’ Yes there would be those of us who would peel off the skin from our palms applauding insults as long as we aren’t on the receiving end. Names are smeared beyond recognition; reputations are dragged in the dust, and that is no more the exception but ‘the rule.’ It’s that bad. ‘The other side be damned!’ mentality seems to be chipping away at the very foundations society rests on. Insults, verbal abuses and the like could eventually turn us into a society deeply rooted in intolerance. And as things are now, that would be a one-way ticket!
It’s no more about the good guys and the bad guys. Not that simple. While admitting it is not an experience we’d wish to live with the fact is we’re awash with insults, verbal abuses and character assassinations on virtually all levels, be it politics, denominations, arts, sports and simple day to day life. In fact even separating ‘the good; from ‘the bad’ could be tricky, if not impossible, as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ seem to have become subjective. Don’t you always wonder what drives us to heap insults on others absolutely for no reason except for them dancing to our tunes? You might be forced to think, “These guys probably have pre-teen kids at home. What do the kids feel listening to good, old daddy blurting out all those nasty, malicious words devoid of any melody! Would they say, “That’s my daddy! Give it to them as they come! We’re proud to have you for a daddy!”
Just imagine what daddy with that flame-thrower tongue tells kids.
“You have heard me speak, haven’t you?”
“Yes, we have daddy.”
“That’s how you should treat others. I want you to be your father’s children and make me proud!” Look, such people don’t dive into those rats because they lose their cool! No way! In fact it has become their nature. I mean when your ‘political’ or other folders upstairs are is as dry and empty as a cleaned out room the next strategy seems to be scaring ‘the other side’ into silence! Of course, as bad as it gets, the ‘other side’ too, are probably armed to the teeth with their own insults, name-bashing outrages!
Isn’t that what society is worried about? I hope he doesn’t tell his kids how they should interact with others; “Look what you’ve to do is call them names, insult them and you’d scare them into silence”? They’ll respect you!” Oh no! Oh no dear daddy! That wouldn’t happen. We’ve yet to politicos who are respected for their rants and abusive language.
In recent times narratives, especially on the social, media seem to have taken a shocking and potentially dangerous detour. It’d be mind-boggling to work out how we came this far into the wilderness of the flame-thrower tongues owning much of the narratives. This is one game of no winners and all losers. Things are so bizarre that even your most innocent comment which shakes no window and breaks no door could make you the target of verbal abuses you never dreamt in your wildest of nights would come your way! Insults and the like seem to have come ‘free for all.’ otherwise things wouldn’t have been so bad.
By the way I wouldn’t be naive enough to claim this problem concerns only us. No; not by any chance. Based on what we see on the World Wide Web it is a problem of much of this messy world. The only difference is, like in most things, we overdo it by my folds! And look where if got us now!
While we’re at it, I got this one from a ‘jokes’ book; Some speaker has just finished his speech, and someone writes; “And now he was finished, and facts were before them, there existed a vast silence, as of far places of the earth. It was a silence pregnant with possibilities; anything might be born of a calm such as that. But, strange to say, absolutely nothing happened. They were all asleep.”
Here, many seem to have mastered the skills of sleeping with eyes open! Maybe, that would be one way to shut off all the verbal junk the flame-thrower tongues try to dump into our ears!
